“How do I see what a customer’s cart costs?”
Build the cart the customer had, and Shopify prices it the way checkout would. Nothing is ordered.

- Open Simulator. Click Add products to pick products from your store; you can tick single variants. Set each Quantity.
- Type the Discount codes the customer used, separated by commas. Automatic discounts apply by themselves.
- Under Ship to, choose the Country. The list comes from your markets, with each one’s currency. A sample address is filled in for common countries; every field can be changed.
- Shipping rate: “Cheapest at checkout”, or one of the options the last calculation offered.
- On Pro and Business, Customer: a guest by default. Find a customer by name or email and pick one, so discounts only they get apply as at their checkout. Use a guest goes back.
- Click Calculate price.
On Free you can calculate 5 carts a day; Pro and Business are unlimited (fair use: 500 a day). Saving a test cart and re-running one don’t count.
Keep it as a test cart
Save as test cart suggests a name from the cart (“The Collection Snowboard: Hydrogen, HYDRO10, New York”). The price it’s saved with becomes the expected result, and it’s checked on your plan’s schedule. On Business, Also check in adds up to 9 more countries to the same test cart.
Good to know
- Prices come from Shopify’s own calculation, with your markets, discounts, discount apps, shipping and tax.
- A product that’s out of stock is still priced, with a warning; checkout sells only what’s in stock.
- A code that doesn’t exist is reported as such.

The price X-ray shows each layer, and every code that wasn't applied gets a sentence saying why. Save it as a test cart to have it checked again.
